Role Overview
As a Credit Risk Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of counterparties, monitoring exposures, and working closely with traders, finance, and legal teams to manage and mitigate credit risk across physical and paper oil transactions. The role requires a deep understanding of counterparty risk in the commodities trading environment, particularly in energy and oil markets.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct detailed credit assessments of new and existing counterparties (producers, refiners, traders, NOCs, etc.)

Assign and maintain internal credit ratings and limits based on financial statements, industry outlook, and trading behavior

Monitor and report daily credit exposures across physical and paper trading portfolios

Review and approve trade structures, payment terms, and credit mitigants (LCs, guarantees, insurance)

Maintain and update counterparty risk database and internal systems

Monitor news, market movements, and changes in financial health of key counterparties

Liaise with trade finance, legal, compliance, and front office to structure secure and profitable trades

Support the onboarding process of new counterparties, including KYC checks and documentation

Prepare regular and ad-hoc credit risk reports for senior management

Contribute to internal risk policy development and credit risk framework improvements
