Our client is a leading investment firm, which has over $50bn in AUM. As part of their continued growth, they are looking for a Venture Capital Investor for their San Francisco or Boston offices. This role involves leading and participating in all stages of the investment process for the venture capital portfolio, including sourcing, due diligence, and monitoring. As a senior member of the Private Equity and Real Estate team, the candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for venture capital-related inquiries, prepare investor updates, and co-manage their venture capital pooled vehicles. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, closing, and monitoring of fund and co-investments for the venture capital asset class.
  • Developing transaction documentation and presenting to the Asset Class Investment Committee.
  • Building relationships with top venture capital managers and representing the firm in the investment community.
  • Clearly communicating their venture capital strategy to Client CIO teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting business development and marketing efforts for the strategy.
  • Contributing to portfolio management of venture capital pooled vehicles.
  • Assisting with team operations, including recruiting, training, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Conducting market and manager research.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate M&A, capital markets, or valuation services.
  • 5+ years of venture capital investment experience, ideally in primary fund manager selection for an endowment, foundation, fund-of-fund, or asset manager.
  • Strong financial analysis, modeling, and company valuation skills.
  • Ability to conduct industry research and write clear investment memoranda.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or professional certifications (CFA, CAIA) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • A team-oriented approach and ability to work well in diverse environments.
  • Knowledge of information security processes and data protection regulations.
