The Middle Office Manager will play a critical role in setting up and overseeing the middle office operations for our new Zurich office. This position involves managing trade support, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining robust risk controls to support our trading activities. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in middle office functions within the oil trading sector and will be instrumental in establishing and optimizing processes in our new office.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Office Setup and Management:

    • Lead the establishment and setup of middle office operations in Zurich, including defining processes, systems, and team structures.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  2. Trade Support and Processing:

    • Oversee the trade lifecycle from execution to settlement, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in trade processing.
    • Coordinate with front office and back office teams to resolve trade discrepancies, ensure accurate trade capture, and manage confirmations and reconciliations.
  3. Risk and Control Management:

    • Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to manage operational risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor and report on operational risk metrics, incidents, and issues, and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  4. Operational Efficiency:

    • Optimize middle office processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Work closely with technology teams to support system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
  5. Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare and deliver regular reports on trade activity, performance metrics, and operational issues.
    • Analyze trade data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements.
  6. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Recruit, train, and manage a team of middle office professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
    • Set objectives, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing development opportunities for team members.
  7. Regulatory and Compliance:

    • Ensure adherence to local and international regulations related to trade operations and reporting.
    • Stay informed about regulatory changes and update internal procedures as necessary to ensure compliance.
