As their Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support across all aspects of their oil trading business. You will manage and negotiate trading contracts, advise on shipping and logistics issues, and work closely with senior management to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks. This broad and impactful role offers the chance to build the firm’s legal function from the ground up, collaborating with internal teams and managing relationships with external legal providers when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for oil trading, including purchase and sale agreements, shipping and charterparty contracts, and storage agreements.
- Provide legal advice on trading operations, shipping logistics, and risk management, ensuring all practices adhere to relevant regulations.
- Oversee and advise on legal aspects of transactions, including due diligence, dispute resolution, and compliance.
- Manage and streamline relationships with external legal counsel, coordinating outsourced matters when additional expertise is required.
- Develop and implement internal policies and frameworks to ensure legal and regulatory compliance across the business.
- Monitor and advise on regulatory developments and changes in international trade, sanctions, and environmental compliance that impact oil trading.
- Provide strategic legal support to senior management, identifying and mitigating risks to support the firm’s growth and operational efficiency.
