Job Summary:

As a Data Engineer at our clients firm, you will be pivotal in constructing and maintaining the
infrastructure necessary for the optimal functioning of our quantitative and discretionary trading
strategies. You will work closely with their data scientists, analysts, and portfolio managers to
ensure seamless data integration, high availability, and real-time processing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Pipeline Development:
  • Design, build, and manage robust, scalable, and eƯicient data pipelines to support various data acquisition and processing tasks.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and accessibility across the organization.
Data Integration and Management:
  • Integrate data from various internal and external sources, including market data feeds, trading platforms, and third-party providers.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes to support the ingestion and transformation of large datasets.
Database Architecture:
  • Design, implement, and optimize database systems for high performance and scalability.
  • Manage both relational and non-relational databases, ensuring data consistency and integrity.
  • Refactoring of systems to ensure stability, performance and maintainability.
Collaboration and Support:
  • Work closely with data scientists and quantitative researchers to understand their data needs and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Provide technical support for data-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
Automation and Optimization:
  • Automate routine data processing tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Continuously optimize data workflows to enhance performance and reduce latency.
Security and Compliance:
  • Implement robust data security measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Requirements:

Education
  • Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
Experience:
  • Industry Experience: Proven experience as a Data Engineer, preferably within the financial services or hedge fund industry and specially in commodity trading.
  • Technical Experience: Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining data pipelines, database management, and data integration.
Technical Skills:
  • Programming Languages:
  • Proficiency in core Python and experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Docker, Copilot, AWS CDK).
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Expertise in SQL and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.
  • Knowledge of database design, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with big data frameworks and tools such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
  • Proficiency in handling large-scale data processing tasks and optimizing big data workflows.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience in designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Proficiency in integrating data from various sources, including APIs, streaming data, and third-party providers.
