The Africa-Focused Originator will be responsible for sourcing, developing, and managing supply chain relationships across key African markets. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in originating deals, understands the complexities of trading in Africa, and possesses strong commercial acumen. You will play a key role in building and managing a portfolio of suppliers and partners, leveraging your regional insights to secure competitive and reliable trade flows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and originate dry bulk trade opportunities in African markets, focusing on key commodities such as coal, iron ore, grains, and other bulk materials.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, logistics providers, and other stakeholders in the African supply chain.
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify new sources of supply and demand, assessing market trends, geopolitical impacts, and regulatory factors.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing terms that align with company goals and manage these agreements from inception through execution.
- Work closely with internal teams (traders, operations, risk management, finance) to ensure smooth trade execution and timely delivery.
- Monitor and assess risks associated with trading in Africa, including currency fluctuations, political stability, and supply chain disruptions.
- Represent the company at industry events, networking with key players and stakeholders to enhance market presence in Africa.
