We are working with a global oil trading firm seeking a shipping operator to join their Singapore office:
Position Summary:
- Oversee all facets of shipping operations to ensure seamless functioning of controlled vessels, aligning with global standards and regulatory mandates.
- Strategically plan voyages to meet international regulations and charter party stipulations.
- Streamline vessel deployment, enhance operational efficiency, and minimize costs.
- Provide comprehensive voyage instructions to vessels and advise chartering and trading desks on tank cleaning protocols and contamination risks.
- Evaluate vessels based on company vetting criteria and liaise with stakeholders on voyage orders and itineraries.
- Monitor vessel performance, including speed and fuel consumption, and optimize bunker and route usage.
- Manage engagement of port agents, negotiate agency fees, and oversee payment processing.
- Handle documentation such as letters of indemnity and protests, and maintain SoftMar system records.
- Assist in resolving chartering issues and provide support for demurrage calculations and credit control activities.
- Serve as a communication bridge during vessel emergencies and maintain comprehensive voyage files.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Maritime/Nautical Studies.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in shipping or trading, with knowledge of international ship management, preferably in the tanker industry.
- Proficiency in ship agency operations and excellent communication skills in English and Chinese, both written and verbal.
- Proactive, autonomous, and adept at prioritization and problem-solving.
- Strong negotiation abilities and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated adaptability and sound judgement to minimize risks and optimize company interests.
