We are currently partnered with an Energy Boutique Investment Bank looking to make 3 junior hires to grow its M&A and Debt Advisory team in London. Their clients are mainly within the Oil & Gas space and they advise on transactions globally.
As an Associate, you will play a key role in advising clients in the energy sector across strategy, M&A&D, and debt advisory. Given the flat organisation structure, you will be client-facing and actively involved in the origination, due diligence, structuring and execution transactions that align with our client’s strategic goals. Responsibilities:
- Market Analysis: conduct in-depth market research from various sources to identify potential macro trends in the oil and gas sector, and/or analyse regional opportunities.
- Due Diligence: lead and coordinate due diligence processes, ensuring thorough assessment of financial, operational, commercial and regulatory aspects.
- Financial Modelling: create and assess financial models to evaluate prospective transactions, including valuation and scenario analysis. At times, you will be expected to build financial models from the scratch across different tax jurisdictions.
- Marketing: support the team in preparing bespoke marketing materials for clients in a clear and concise manner.
- Transaction Execution: assist in the execution of a variety of transactions (e.g. mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, debt raises, etc.) via running the process (where applicable), due diligence, advising, structuring, negotiating, etc.
- Relationship Management: cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry contacts. An Associate will be expected to lead discussions with clients on specific topics.
Requirements:
- Education: Degree level or above.
- Experience: minimum of 3 years of experience in M&A advisory, corporate and investment banking, or consulting within the oil and gas sector.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and due diligence processes; strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Analytical Abilities: A strong foundation of corporate finance skills is required, as well as exceptional analytical and quantitative skills and a strong attention to detail. We are looking for someone who can ‘think critically’ to synthesize complex information.
- Communication Skills: excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences including clients.
- Interpersonal Skills: strong relationship-building skills and a client-focused mindset. Must be friendly and a team player
- Industry Knowledge: deep understanding of the oil and gas industry, including market dynamics and regulatory considerations; general interest in world news and potential impact on the sector globally
- Time management: ability to prioritise workstreams and multi-task
